ETAP supports the state-owned energy provider PT PLN in successfully shaping and accelerating the just energy transition in Indonesia. KfW on behalf of the German Government and PT PLN signed a grant of EUR 6.5 million in December 2023.

By strengthening the capacities of one of the key players in the Indonesian energy sector, ETAP will contribute to achieving the goals of the JETP.

ETAP will focus on two areas:

1. strengthen personnel and technical capacities of PT PLN in mainstreaming environmental and social management in line with international standards

2. expanding technical and personnel capacities regarding the implementation of geothermal energy projects.

Target group are PLN's employees working in the two priority areas. Their capacities are to be sustainably strengthened through training courses, on-the-job training, and other measures. To this end, there will be close cooperation with PLN's own university (PLN Pusdiklat). Furthermore, ETAP will strengthen synergies and linkages with other donors.
