DESCRIPTION
ESMAP is a global knowledge and technical assistance program administered by the World Bank. It aims to assist developing and emerging-market countries in addressing their energy challenges through capacity building, policy advice and innovative solutions.
In Indonesia, ESMAP continues to support the country’s energy sector development efforts. Its projects include activities to improve women’s access to modern energy sources and bolster the employment opportunities for women in the energy sector; access to sustainable and lower-cost electricity in Maluku and Nusa Tenggara regions and enhance the operational capacity of PLN; among others.
Canada provides CAD 25 million to the global ESMAP program and the contribution has been prorated to provide a provisional estimated amount of funding that Indonesia could potentially access from Canada's support.
